Financial Strengths
Every policyholder should know the financial rating of the insurer they are considering.
This information is available through a variety of rating agencies.
You need to ensure that the company you pick will honor a claim made by your beneficiaries.
…and don’t forget, financial ratings vary yearly, which means it’s a good idea to keep abreast of the latest information.
The general rule of thumb is that a good financial rating means the insurer is financially stable and will likely remain so for the immediate future. A low or poor financially rating should stand out like a great big red flag.
If you take a look at American-Amicable Life Insurance Company, they have been given an “A” rating by one of the premier financial rating agencies, A.M. Best! Two thumbs up for American Amicable Life Insurance when it comes to stability!

Their life insurance line is excellent, but should only be considered by those with specific needs.

This is information you NEED before you apply for life insurance. In other words, you’ll have to speak to an American Amicable Life Insurance agent to ascertain these details.

The other features of this policy include:
- Flexible Premiums
- Adjustable benefit life insurance contract
- No stated maximum coverage amount
- No lapse guarantee provided minimum premium is paid
So there is one more option – American Amicable Life Insurance Company offers Modified Life. Hmmm. What’s that? Let’s take a look!
Modified Life
Ok I am going to be honest, this one left me scratching my head bit. The American Amicable Life Insurance website describes this product as:
“Life insurance products combined with a cash value accumulation option. Whole Life or Term insurance options are available.”
HUH?
That’s it! There’s no more information about what this product entails. To be frank this is a VERY vague description.
Personally, I would like to see a lot more information about this product before I would even begin to consider it. Potential customers have no idea what is being offered or how much it will cost.
Basically, if you want to know what they are offering, you must speak to an American Amicable Life Insurance agent. I’m not a fan of this approach and prefer transparency.

3 Potential Problems You Might Face
Now that we know more about American Amicable Life Insurance and their offerings, it’s time to get down to the nitty-gritty.
I’m going to share some insider information as to how they stack up to other companies we work with here at Huntley Wealth.
American Amicable does have a rather interesting and unique array of life insurance products.
That being said, I have to bring attention to 3 potential problems you may encounter if you choose them.
1) Too Specialized
As I mentioned above, American Amicable Life Insurance Company of Texas offers mostly specialized life insurance products.
With the exception of the fully underwritten Universal policy, their products can be summarized as no medical exam life insurance, final expense life insurance, simplified term insurance and group term life insurance.
A WORD OF CAUTION!
All of the above policies, which don’t require a medical exam or blood work, have limitations. The underwriting approach requires that you respond to a series of health questions.
Although no medical exam policies are convenient and relatively easy to obtain, you have to be careful about applying if you have certain health issues.
Answering yes to questions about targeted conditions may result in your application being declined.
The American Amicable Life Insurance Company seems to be more conservative in its underwriting approach and tends to favor approving healthy individuals over those with medical problems.
This is true for many insurers offering no medical exam life insurance.
…but there are exceptions.
If you decide you want or need to apply for a no medical exam policy, we recommend that you always use an independent life insurance agent. We know which companies are more lenient for specific health conditions.
You’re also limited in terms of the cost of your premiums. American Amicable will rate you and you have to pay the premiums they decide to charge you.
My best advice is to shop around. You will save thousands over a 10, 20 or 30 year term.
Independent agents like the ones here at Huntley Wealth can access dozens of the top rated life insurers in America…
…so we have no doubt that we can pinpoint the best possible rates for your particular circumstances!
The benefit that most individuals are interested in with a no medical exam policy is the time required to obtain coverage. A policy that requires an exam will take as long as four to six weeks before the policy begins because consumers must first see a doctor and have reports sent to the insurance provider. The insurance provider will then start the underwriting process and give a final cost to consumers. Consumers fill out the final paperwork and then coverage begins.
2) Face Value Coverage Limits Are Too Low
Another problem I see with American Amicable Life Insurance Company of Texas is that their coverage amounts are low.
Most of their no medical exam policies are limited to $250,000. For many of you, this ceiling doesn’t offer enough protection. The last thing you want to be is underinsured!
Companies that provide no medical exam policies typically offer lower face values. If you want more coverage with American Amicable Life Insurance, you will have to buy a 2nd policy to make up the difference.
This is another reason why you should always use an independent agent when you buy life insurance.
For example, here at Huntley Wealth, we know of only 1 company that offers a $1,000,000 No Exam life insurance policy.
We can help you find no medical exam policies with much higher face amounts than those offered by American Amicable Life Insurance Company.
3) I Don’t Recommend Consulting a Single Company Insurer
If you’ve been reading my articles, you’re well aware that I’m not a fan of looking to only one company for your life insurance needs. In order to take control of your premiums and coverage you should really play the field.
American Amicable Life Insurance Company policies are limited in scope and quite obviously their site doesn’t really provide an abundance of information about what they offer.
As an independent life insurance agent, I can tell you that it’s important to compare companies. This is really the only way to find out if the premium quote you receive from American Amicable Life Insurance Company is the best one for you.
I’d bet dollars to doughnuts it’s not…and that we can find you a lower quote.
